Grandparents Day

Sunday is National Grandparents Day, a day set aside to honor and love them. Please do this if your grandparents are still alive. My grandparents are all gone and I miss them! My grandma Laura once said..."bring me flowers while I'm alive, not when I'm gone and can't enjoy them." Great advice!

They all lived great lives and I have great memories! Robert the coal-miner. The mines had crippled his body by the time I got to really know him, but not his spirit. He was quiet and when he spoke you listened! His wife Laura who took care of him after years in the mines. She was independent and was the one that drove when we went to our many dinners at Shoneys. Henry, it seems like he could do anything! and in my eyes he could. Give him 10 minutes and he knew someone you were related to. Henry's wife Tina, the quiet godly woman who taught the same Sunday School class for over 40 years and played piano for jail services. Gone NOT forgotten!

Check out this website for more on National Grandparents Day, a tradition founded right up the road from where I grew up in West Virginia. http://www.grandparents-day.com/

Thank you grandparents!

Blessings...brian
