Sharathon

Tomorrow is Day 1 of my first Sharathon at WCQR. I'm excited because of the theme "God Never Changes"! Think of that....seasons change, feelings change, prices change, politicians change...BUT GOD NEVER CHANGES! Pray for us as Sharathon starts and if God lays it on your heart to support us, thanks!

Today's Power Verse:
(Hebrews 13:8 NIV) Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Fireproof #4

Thanks to our friends at Chick-fil-A, I got to see the movie Fireproof Friday night. I laughed, I cried, I was moved! This movie makes me want to be a better man and a better husband! Incredible, please go see it if you have not. Take someone who's struggling with their marriage to see it. The movie came in 4th this weekend, not bad considering the top 3 are playing on at least 2,500 screens compared to 839 for Fireproof!!! Go see it, you won't be disappointed!

Mike made a point on Breakfast Radio this morning that this movie should be mandatory for all couples before they get married...I agree!!!

Never leave your partner behind...brian

See You At The Pole

WOW! What a morning. We took call after call of young people gathered around their flag poles prior to school...PRAYING! The annual "See You At The Pole" is something I look forward to every year! This year..WOW, my first in the Tri-Cities and what a turn out! We heard from about 2 dozen schools and even had a report of one teen giving their heart to the Lord at one of the schools! I can't list all the schools, but unofficially we had reports of around 1600 young people praying at their school flag poles this morning.

You can report your school at the website www.syatp.com

Friday's Breakfast Radio

This morning we talked about a new study that shows regular church attendance helps a student's GPA. Besides the spiritual aspects, we asked you about other benefits of church attendance. You had some great responses including making friends, being encouraged and uplifted, finding people to keep you accountable and one caller found his WIFE at church. He told us the church offered free lunch for college students and that's how they met! Great story and thanks to churches that are reaching out and ministering to college students!

I also talked about going down to Bristol Motor Speedway, somehow I keep ending up there, and taking a few laps around the track in Chalmer Harper's car (he drove, I rode). WHAT A RUSH! One day I want to give the command to start a NASCAR race!!!

Have a great weekend, lots of events going on, boat races and maze singins' and more, check out our community calendar for more info.

My cousin sent me the dog picture and I wanted to share it with you.

In 2004, Audio Adrenaline was involved in creating the Hands and Feet Project in Haiti. This orphanage is now ministering to over 30 kids in one of the poorest countries in the world. Grandparents Day

Sunday is National Grandparents Day, a day set aside to honor and love them. Please do this if your grandparents are still alive. My grandparents are all gone and I miss them! My grandma Laura once said..."bring me flowers while I'm alive, not when I'm gone and can't enjoy them." Great advice!

They all lived great lives and I have great memories! Robert the coal-miner. The mines had crippled his body by the time I got to really know him, but not his spirit. He was quiet and when he spoke you listened! His wife Laura who took care of him after years in the mines. She was independent and was the one that drove when we went to our many dinners at Shoneys. Henry, it seems like he could do anything! and in my eyes he could. Give him 10 minutes and he knew someone you were related to. Henry's wife Tina, the quiet godly woman who taught the same Sunday School class for over 40 years and played piano for jail services. Gone NOT forgotten!

Check out this website for more on National Grandparents Day, a tradition founded right up the road from where I grew up in West Virginia. http://www.grandparents-day.com/

Thank you grandparents!

Girls or Boys

A new study is out and it says that raising boys is tougher than girls. WAIT a minute you said, a majority of calls on Breakfast Radio said the opposite thing! One mom spent 30 minutes with her daughter trying to pick out an outfit for pictures. I remember as a kid that I had to get a haircut every year prior to my school picture. My mom has a collage of clean cut school photos of me, every year except 3rd grade, the year I kept secret the date of school pictures..lol!

Don't forget the Family Carnival this Saturday at The Mall at Johnson City. Check out the church website for more info! http://www.calvary-fellowship.net/

Helping Gustav's evacuees

This morning on Breakfast Radio we talked with Brenda Whitehead from the American Red Cross in the Tri-cities. Brenda told us about the 400 or so evacuees at 2 different shelters in Kingsport. The Red Cross has served over 3600 meals since Sunday, helping kids from 10 days old to people in their 80's.

Please remember to pray for these folks! Some have been moved for the second time in 3 years. You can also help by making a contribution to the American Red Cross by calling 423-378-8700 or checking out their website

The Red Cross is always looking for volunteers, you can call the above number or check out the website for more info.

I've officially joined the new century! I'm now a blogger! This morning on Breakfast Radio, Mike and I talked about college football. Our teams (Arkansas and WV) both won, but both UT and VT lost. We also discussed the Palin family's news of 17 year old Bristol's pregnancy . You had great advice including how God had helped you in a similar way, both as a parent and as a teen. One dad hit the nail on the head when he said, "Show them love"...WOW!

Till the next post....brian
