Remembering VT

I'll never forget the memories I have of 2 years ago today. A snowy, cold day in Virginia; day 1 of Sharathon; tragedy at Virginia Tech.

We remembered VT this morning with a special song by the group The Season. Here's a link to their my space page if you want to check out FOREVER CHANGED (WE'RE ALL HOKIES TODAY):

Also a dear friend of mine, Matt Rogers, wrote a book called WHEN ANSWERS AREN'T ENOUGH (Experiencing God as Good When Life Isn't). Matt is a pastor at New Life Fellowship at Virginia Tech. His book is a great read if you want to know about life in the minutes, hours, days, and months following April 16, 2007. Here's a link:

Tomorrow, Matthew West joins us to talk about E-Women, The Motions Resolution, and The Music Boat.

Tax Day

Mike had lot of great quotes for Tax Day:

Born Free . . . Taxed to Death

— Unknown

The taxpayer — that's someone who works for the federal government but doesn't have to take the civil service examination.

— Ronald Reagan, President USA

Income tax has made liars out of more Americans than golf

— Will Rogers

The hardest thing in the world to understand is income tax.

— Albert Einstein

There will always be death and taxes; however, death doesn't get worse every year.

— Unknown

Nothing in life is certain except death and taxes — Benjamin Franklin
There is no such thing as a good tax.

— Sir Winston Churchill

Government's view of the economy could be summed up in a few short phrases: If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it. And if it stops moving, subsidize it.

— Ronald Reagan, President USA

I also shared a poem this morning:

YOU TOOK MY PARKING SPACE AT CHURCH

One day, a man went to visit a church. He got there early, parked his car and got out. Another car pulled up near the driver got out and said, 'I always park there! You took my place!'

The visitor went inside for Sunday school, found an empty seat and sat down. A young lady from the church approached him and stated, 'That's my seat! You took my place!'

The visitor was somewhat distressed by this rude welcome, but said nothing. After Sunday school, the visitor went into the sanctuary and sat down. Another member walked up to him and said, 'That's where I always sit! You took my place!'

The visitor was even more troubled by this treatment, but still He said nothing. Later as the congregation was praying for Christ to dwell among them, the visitor stood up, and his appearance began to change.

Horrible scars became visible on his hands and on his sandaled feet.

Someone from the congregation noticed him and called out, 'What happened to you?'

The visitor replied , as his hat became a crown of thorns, and a tear fell from his eye,

'I took your place .
