Super Bowl 43

The votes are in and according to our Tri-City fans, you favor the Steelers 2-1 over the Cardinals on Sunday. I think the Steelers will win, but will probably pull for the Cards, I love the underdog. Here's a website featuring articles on some of the players and coaches in this year's big game talking about their faith in Christ.

Enjoy the game...brian

Facebook Junkie

I think I've become a Facebook junkie. I love connecting with old friends and new friends and finding out how everyone is and how life is going. I found out today that old pictures of you can be posted on Facebook. I thought I'd share a blast from the past. It was 1994 and the mullet was still king. I was also a few pounds lighter and hadn't hit 30 yet!

Dear Mr. President

Today is a historical day for our country. The first African-American President was sworn into office this afternoon. President Barack Obama, if I had one thing I could tell you or one piece of advice it would be Micah 6:8. That verse says: He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.

God Bless you Mr. President, I'm praying for you...brian

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Here's a tribute we played this morning from Dr Tim Clinton:

January 28th…1957…his church bombed …hundreds of death threats and facing arrest…a terrified 28 year old pastor sat alone at midnight in his kitchen …the phone rang…another death threat…”we’re gonna blow your brains out and bomb your house.”

The young pastor was an emotional wreck…and was ready to quit and run…
Listen to what he wrote about that night…

“…I was religious, I grew up in the church. I’m the son of a preacher…my grandfather was a preacher, my great grandfather was a preacher…

The church meant something very real to me, but it was a kind of inherited religion and I had never felt an experience with God in the way that you must if you’re going to walk the lonely paths of this life.

I sat there and thought about a beautiful little daughter…and a dedicated, loyal wife…and they could be taken from me or I could be taken from them…

I couldn’t take it any longer. I was weak. Something said to me you’ve got to call on that something in that Person your Daddy used to tell you about.

And I discovered that religion had to become real to me…I had to know God for myself.
I prayed out loud, ‘Lord, I’m down here trying to do what’s right. But I’m weak,
I’m faltering, I’m losing my courage. And I can’t let the people see me like this…”

“…at that moment I could hear an inner voice saying to me, ‘Martin Luther, stand up for righteousness. Stand up for justice. Stand up for truth. And lo, I will be with you, even until the end of the world.’ I heard the voice of Jesus saying still to fight on. He promised never to leave me, never to leave me alone. No never alone.

Almost at once, my fears began to go. My uncertainty disappeared. I went to bed no longer worried about the threats.”

This is Tim Clinton.

And that’s an excerpt from a sermon that very few people know about…
by Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.. A man of eloquence, intelligence,
Anxiety, fear, and worry…who in weakness was made strong in Jesus…to turn injustice around.

Blessings...brian

Cold Friday!!!

Trying to stay warm on a cold day. Flew solo today, Mike was out of town for business!

Sparrow Records New Faces/New Music tour was incredible last night. I hope you got to hear it and I'd love to get your feedback. breakfastradio@wcqr.org

Got this email right after last night's live show:

Thanks so much for all you guys do and especially for airing the New Faces, New Music tour tonight. I listen in West Jefferson, NC and actually went to Winston -Salem last night and saw the show live. I must say that the past hour and a half by radio was just as moving, weirdly enough. I was so glad to hear this morning that I could listen to the show again tonight. To be honest, I don't know if I have ever heard a more powerful hour and a half on christian radio. The power of the Holy Spirit just shined through the artists and across the airwaves so incredibly. Thanks again for all you do and for airing this show live on-air. I don't know if you will ever know what an impact it has had on people listening. It certainly impacted me. Thanks again and God bless!!

That is COOL!!!

Law of the Garbage Truck

This email is from my sister. I shared it this morning on Breakfast Radio:

Law of the Garbage Truck

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport.

We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped

out of a parking space right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes,

skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver

of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly.

So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!'

This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.

'He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage,

full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up,

they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.

Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks takeover their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets,

so...Love the people who treat you right. Pray for the ones who don't.

Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

Have a blessed, garbage-free day!

We also shared a cool website profiling Tim Tebow and Sam Bradford, the quarterbacks of last night's championship game. the site is:

Financial Tips and the AFLAC dog

"4 Weeks TO A New You" continued this morning with a financial tip...Make sure you get "financially organized" in 2009. For another listen check out the link:

Mike also shared a great story about his dog Max and his love of the AFLAC duck, the little stuffed kind you can get from an AFLAC agent. Max heard the AFLAC duck on TV the other night and went looking for his little friend. Max had sent his original one to duck heaven about a year ago, but went "duck hunting" for a new one on TV. One caller offered her dog's AFLAC duck to Mike!!!
